The Pentecostal Charismatic Churches of North America (PCCNA) represent 40 million Christians in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Several PCCNA leaders have called for prayer and compassionate action in response to U.S. Homeland Security's policy of separating parents from their children at the border. PCCNA's members include a diverse group of denominations such as the Assemblies of God, U.S.A, Church of God, Church of God in Christ, Open Bible Churches, the Foursquare, Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, Grupo Unidad, Church of God of Prophecy and many other denominations, churches and organizations. Here are the statements from some of our members:
Rev. Samuel Rodriguez leads the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) and serves on a White House immigration advisory council. Rev. Rodriguez, President of NHCLC and a member of PCCNA's Executive Committee, issued a statement urging a bipartisan resolution to the dreamer crisis as Congress votes on immigration bills. “The physical reality of the immigration crisis must cause lawmakers from both parties to sideline hardline dogma for the sake of the real people whose lives and wellbeing rest on the outcome of Washington’s decision.”
Rev. Rodriguez continues, “While the federal government has a duty to protect America’s borders and defend the rule of law, we must always balance enforcement with compassion. Alleged reports that some illegal border crossers, many of the families, are enduring callous actions by law enforcement should cause us all to take pause. Regardless of the reason behind a person’s attempt to come into the country, we must respond with American decency and respect for the dignity of every single child of God made in His image.
“The House has announced votes next week on competing immigration bills. I urge Republicans and Democrats alike not to miss this opportunity to work together to prioritize compassionate, commonsense immigration reforms that provide a path to legal residency for Dreamers. The physical reality of the immigration crisis must cause lawmakers from both parties to sideline hardline dogma for the sake of the real people whose lives and wellbeing rest on the outcome of Washington’s decision.”

The Assemblies of God USA issued the following statement asking for prayer: “As the Assemblies of God community of faith, we value families. When the family unit is disintegrated, it negatively impacts society. As one of the nation’s most ethnically diverse religious groups, I’m asking you to join your faith and prayers for those who are suffering to experience God’s comfort, healing, and restoration.
Pray for the protection of all children who are displaced from their families. Pray for our elected leaders to govern wisely, keeping our nation safe and secure while creating immigration reform that reflects human dignity, compassion, and justice integral to a 'nation under God.'
Pray that we, as the Assemblies of God family, will demonstrate Christ’s love when immigrants arrive in our communities and churches. Pray that out of this political and moral conundrum, many will come to faith in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.”
Church of God General Overseer Dr. Tim Hill said in a statement, “My heart is broken as I watch and read about the thousands of children that have been separated from their parents along the southern border of the United States. While the Administration is called upon to enforce the laws passed by Congress, it is also important that the enforcement be done with care and concern for the innocent lives that could be forever impacted by such traumatic enforcement.”

Foursquare President Glenn Burris, Jr. said in a statement that Foursquare Stands with Families and Dreamers, “We should be on the side of mercy and compassion, and we cannot stand silent affirming that Foursquare will speak out against injustice and act according to God’s laws.”
President Burris continues, “Today, more than 800,000 'DREAMers' are at risk of deportation due to the threat that DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) may be rescinded. Congress has been given six months to arrive at a viable plan for dealing with this legislation. Failure to arrive at a workable solution will put many at peril and could break up many families. We unequivocally stand against the deportation of those who have been protected by DACA. We unashamedly stand with those caught in this misfortune. We cover them with our love and support.”
Click here for complete statement from President Burris.
The Church Of God In Christ is joining with other faith organizations to urge the U.S. government to cease the policy of separating immigrant families. The administration of President Donald Trump has engaged in a policy of separating families and criminally prosecuting all people who cross the American border without prior authorization. As Christians, who represent a faith perspective that is concerned for the well-being of vulnerable persons crossing our borders to seek asylum from dangers that threaten their lives, we are deeply troubled by both our government’s callous response and its audacity to misappropriate Scripture to justify its actions. International Pentecostal Holiness Churches General Superintendent Doug Beacham posted on his Facebook page, “Immigration is a hotly debated topic in the USA and around the globe. This column by Ed Stetzer addresses a current issue regarding immigrant children and their parents. Please pray that our legislative, executive, and judicial leaders in the USA can find just ways that are pro-family as we navigate through these issues.” His post included this link.

Get Connected!
Connecting. Networking. Learning. Praying. Encouraging. All of those things are important to our spiritual vitality and to moving forward with Kingdom purposes.
Now, through the PCCNA Prayer Commission’s monthly conference call, there is a way for all who are part of the growing team of prayer coordinators to receive this help and blessing on a regular basis. These conference calls are on the third Wednesday of each month from 10:00-10:30 a.m., EST.
Instructions regarding the free conference call are sent to the prayer coordinator list prior to each month’s conference call.
What happens on these calls? Though the sessions are brief, a lot of content is packed into the half-hour timeframe. After opening greetings and prayer, a variety of components are included as time and scheduling allow. Primary
components included are as follows:
Brief roundtable reports from call participants regarding prayer events, initiatives, and resources in their respective denominations or organizations.
Special guest segments in which denominational, ministry, or organizational leaders share their vision regarding special prayer events, or how God is moving in particular ministries or circumstances. They may also relay information about people or ministries we should be aware of, new resources, and more. Here are
some recent examples:
* During the April conference call, Lisa Crump, Senior Director of Prayer
Mobilization for the National Day of Prayer Task Force, shared about the National Day of Prayer events nationwide.
* Participants on the May call heard from Dr. Jerry Kirk, Founder and President of the 40-day Prayer Covenant. Through the prayer covenant card ministry, multiplied thousands of adults and children are uniting in prayer for one another. (See www.theprayercovenant.org.)
Callers also heard from Esther Ilnisky, Founder and CEO of Esthernet International, a ministry devoted to mobilizing global intercession among children and adults.
Special focus was given to the Children’s Global Prayer Movement, a burgeoning initiative that is raising up a generation of child intercessors around the world. (See www.esthernet.net.)
Prayer for one another is also a vital part of the conference calls. All of us face challenges and needs. We believe that joining together for a moment of prayer moves God’s hand on behalf of the needs shared. There is power in agreement and great encouragement as we lift one another and our ministries in prayer.
Prayer also is offered for denominational, organizational, and special ministry guests that are part of the conference calls.
Please join us! If you have not joined in these calls, please note the day and time as indicated above on your calendar for next month. If a prayer coordinator has not yet been identified in your ministry area, prayerfully consider who would best represent that vital focus and pass the name along to Prayer Commission Chairman, P. Douglas Small at pds@projectprayer.org. We look forward to connecting with you!
